US tomato stocks one-fifth higher as sales tumble

Processed tomatoes inventory in the US in December was 20% higher than at the same time last year, confirming a downing sale trend for local processors and concerns over high carry-over into 2016.

Stocks of processed tomato products as of December 1 were estimated at 13.4 million (short) tons, raw material equivalent, according to figures provided to FOODNEWS this week by the California League of Food Processors (CLFP).
