US winter wheat conditions continue on downwards spiral
Tuesday November 20 2012
THERE has been no let-up in US winter wheat conditions over the past week, with eight of the 18 reporting states showing worsening conditions.
Conditions have declined steadily since the USDA first issued its crop progress report for the 2013 wheat crop. This week, 34% of the crop was rated good to excellent, 2 percentage points lower than last week, and 16 percentage points lower than a year ago, when 50% of the crop was rated good to excellent. The percentage rated poor to very poor also increased by two percentage points to 24% from last week, and compared with 16% a year ago.
