Ritual slaughter waivers risk safety and animal suffering

Systematic use of the ritual slaughter waiver clause in the 2004 food hygiene regulation (853/2004) in the Member States is causing animal suffering and putting consumer safety at risk, welfare organisation the Eurogroup for Animals has warned.
