EU dairies stepped up their cheese production at the beginning of this year, following only modest growth in 2011, latest figures from analysts ZMB indicate.
Total output for January was pegged at 693 000 tonnes, up 2.6% from the 675 000t manufactured in January 2011 and a significant improvement on the sluggish growth achieved in calendar 2011, of just 0.8% (see DM, No 1146, 12.04.12, p2).
