High pesticide residues found in fresh produce in Germany
Friday March 30 2012
ENVIRONMENTAL action group, Greenpeace, has published a consumer guide about pesticides in fruit and vegetables. It discovered high pesticide residue levels not only in produce from countries which had caused problems in the past, but also from EU internal market destinations.
Based on a review of over 22 000 individual tests, the guide places fresh fruit and vegetables into three categories. Produce was categorised as "green - conditionally recommended", "yellow - contains traces of pesticides" or "not recommended on grounds of caution".
