Groups spar over renewed industry effort to expand intervention in pesticide-ESA "Mega Suit"
Friday March 16 2012
Two non-governmental groups reiterated their opposition earlier this month to renewed efforts by industry stakeholders to expand their intervention in a lawsuit filed in January 2011 over EPA's alleged failure to consult with federal wildlife agencies on the impacts of 382 pesticide active ingredients on 214 threatened and endangered species.
In a motion filed last month in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the industry stakeholders, which include CropLife America, the American Chemistry Council and Reckitt Benckiser, among others, again seek to intervene in the liability phase of the case; they already have permission to intervene in the remedy phase.
