Farm subsidies part of 'dysfunctional' food system, says UN expert

Developed countries must overhaul "misguided" agricultural subsidies and change policies to take health effects into account and reverse "deeply dysfunctional" food systems, a UN expert has urged.
Farm aid that makes unhealthy ingredients cheaper than others is one of the "systemic problems" generating poor nutrition worldwide, argues the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food in a report presented to the UN Human Rights Council today (March 6).
