Australian forecast to produce more macadamias

THE Australian macadamia sector has released its official projection of the 2012 crop, which foresees production rising by a third compared with last year.
"It's looking really good. We've got to be careful not to put the kiss of death by making pronouncements too early but we are looking at a crop of around 38 000 tonnes this year and given that the crop last year came in at just over 28 000, that's a significant improvement," Jolyon Burnett, chief executive of the Australian Macadamia Society, was quoted as saying by ABC rural as saying.
