Pepsi: US dairy market "nowhere near its full potential"
Wednesday February 29 2012
PEPSICO, which is about to invest USD206 million in a dairy facility in co-operation with Müller, believes that the US market for dairy is "nowhere near its full potential", website FoodNavigator-USA reports.
The factory will specialise in yogurts. A spokeswoman explained that Pepsi was confident the joint venture would succeed: customers are becoming gradually more aware of dairy products' health benefits, but US per capita consumption remains lower than that of Europe. Yogurts, which are often highly branded and attractively packaged, present a good way of adding value to dairy products.
