Ethiopia's coffee exports fall 40% in H1 2011/12 on lower crop
Tuesday February 28 2012
Ethiopia's coffee exports fell sharply in the six months to December 2011 as adverse weather capped production, but high coffee prices helped tame the impact, said Haile Gebrehiwot, a coffee exporter and former chairman of the Ethiopian Coffee Exporters Association.
Total exports in the first half of 2011/12 were pegged at 952,980 60-kg bags, down from 1,585,030 bags exported in the same period a year ago.
