British plums struggle to find retailers

BRITISH plum farmers are concerned the country's supermarkets are neglecting their produce in favour of plums imported from France, Spain, Portugal and Italy.
According to a report by The Times newspaper, British supermarket chains source 75% of their plums from abroad. The effect of this has been exacerbated by this year's burgeoning fresh produce harvest in Britain.
