Global economic crisis has marginal impact on sugar/ethanol consumption

The global economic crisis has had a relatively minor impact on both sugar and ethanol consumption, Jonathan Kingsman, head of the Kingsman consultancy, said on Tuesday.
Speaking at the International Sugar Organisation's seminar in London, Kingsman remarked: "Sugar prices are rising a lot but as we know sugar is very price inelastic - people will buy sugar at whatever the price. But, if we are right in forecasting a deficit then people won't have sugar to buy."
