Wednesday April 24 2013
As FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg promised at the Senate FDA-USDA appropriations subcommittee last Thursday, and reported by Food Chemical News, the agency today published in the Federal Register its notices extending by another 120 days the comment periods for both its preventive controls (FSMA sect. 103) and produce safety standards (FSMA sect. 105) proposals.
The deadline for comments on both FDA Food Safety Modernization Act proposals is now Sept. 16. Originally the comment periods for both proposals were to end on May 16, 120 days after the Jan. 16 publication of the proposals.
