The 4th annual World Juice Innovation Awards were presented at the World Juice 2005 Banquet on the evening of 4 October, at the prestigious Casino de Madrid. In the absence of a strong contender in the category of Process and Packaging, the judges decided instead to award 2 prizes for the Best New Juice Product, choosing from 6 shortlisted nominations:
The awards went to Van Dyk’s and Sainsbury’s/Serious Foods, whose products were deemed to combine genuine innovation with a winning taste. Most blueberry juice drinks contain a relatively small percentage of juice and some added sugar, whereas Van Dyk’s produce a 100% juice with no additives. The result is a great tasting, natural product packed with the antioxidants prized by health conscious consumers. Serious Food have developed the first probiotic juice shot for the UK market, under the Sainsbury’s private label. Capitalising on growth probiotic daily dose drinks, this product takes on the dairy drinks which currently dominate the market – an excellent example of innovation providing a strategic boost for the juice industry. |
